CARBON ASSET NETWORK

CAN is looking for landowners to become CAN Land Stewards.

CAN receives funding for Soil Health Projects from the nonprofit, Synergy for Ecological Solutions.

In turn, CAN provides funding to you, the Land Stewards, for Soil Health improvement on your land.

If the soil becomes healthier, more carbon is locked in the soil. And that’s

Nature’s way to clean our air.

THERE’S JUST 4 SIMPLE STEPS TO
GREATER SOIL HEALTH

Set up a phone appointment with CAN.

On the call, we’ll discuss a customized Soil Health Plan that YOU approve.

Based on SYNERGY donation levels, receive funding for new equipment or practices.

Execute the 12 month plan, updating CAN as you do.

MEET OUR
LAND STEWARDS

TRISTAN & CODY CARPENTER

Tristan and Cody along with their herd of rambunctious boys are first time farmers looking to turn around an overgrazed and unirrigated field into lush and productive acreage that will do the good work of photosynthesis to trap carbon and help clean the air.  The family is currently committed to utilizing sustainable methods such as cover crops to enrich vitamins into the soil and aid in compaction, planting methods to control erosion, and grazing methods to put nutrients back into the soil.  We are proud of the Carpenter’s commitment to working the land in a way that will benefit us all.

THE GENTLE FAMILY

The Gentle family manages their cow/calf operation in Laramie County, Wyoming. They have for years been a practitioner of regenerative agriculture practices and will be expanding their soil health initiatives. Being a ranch, they primarily grow grass for the cattle. Grass has been described as one of the most efficient carbon capturing “machines” when combined with grazing animals. The grazing actually increases the carbon sequestration. The Gentle family is leading the way to continue to increase soil health and, in turn, transform our environment.

THE KELLER CLAN

The Kellers operate their ranch and farm in central Montana. The land has been with the family since 1917 and there’s a long legacy of Land Stewards nurturing and taking care of the soil. The Kellers are pro-active in regenerative agriculture to make sure the soil remains productive. Their goals are mitigate topsoil erosion, which is critical in their windy, arid environment. We’re glad to have ALL the Kellers working for soil health. Four generations: left to right is Tasha and Wade with their kids Blair, Benny and Will. Dick, the proud grandpa. Coleen and Stuart,  parents of Wade and Brandon. Melia (with a new Keller on the way) and Brandon with their son Waylon.

OWEN & CAROLE GOERTZ

The Goertz family operates a ranch outside of Cheyenne, Wyoming and have for generations. Owen’s passion is the same as his father’s – to find alternate sources of water for their dry, arid ground. A major key for better soil health is water. More water produces better soil and vegetation, and sequesters more carbom. The Goertzes have been innovators in water capture, working with Encore Green Environmental to use industrial water for better land management.
